Up ahead is a gryphon perched with her back to you on one of those tall gray rocks. Her fur is white with leopard spots, and her feathers are white too. She's really quite pretty. You walk up to her, and she cranes her hear over to look at you.

"Hello," you say to her. As you walk around the rock to face her, you realize she has no forelegs, unlike the other gryphons.

:Ah, Greetings. Nice to see someone else with two legs around here,: she jokes. :I'm Arpier, by the way, a Delta. Enjoying the territory?:

"It's very- unusual," you say.

:This stone points to the Alicorn's Mane in the night. The much larger stone over there points to the Hawk in the Sky, the Sun, at high noon. But sometimes it points to The Cat's Face as well.:

"The 'Cat's Face'?"

:The Moon. It is said each gryphon is particularly attuned to one stone. If a stone is destroyed, the gryphon attached to it will die as well. Only the first gryphon was attuned to the Hawk in the Sky. Perhaps someday the gryphon will return to make us strong again. She had power, but her children weren't wise enough to learn it, and we are the last Pride of gryphons.:
